driven to school but sasha wants to take the bus again and plans to do so with friends. developing news out of i.d. where snow and -- idaho where snow and visibility is causing problems for a search for a plane. five people were on board. they were headed to montana. crews are searching near the johnson creek air strip near yellow pine. the pilot reported engine problems before losing radio contact. police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by two cars this morning. the man was hit and killed while walking around 6:15 a.m. the crash forced police to shut down the southbound lanes for three hours. the driver stayed at the scene

but another driver took off, however he later called police and is now cooperating with investigators. they are still deciding on whether to call it a hit and run. >> there was a lapse of time, we are trying to determine how much effort was made by that individual in attempting to contact police. >> police haven't yet identified the victim. in an hour a candlelight vigil will make place to remember the 24 pedestrians who were hit and killed in san jose this year. it begins at 6:00 p.m. on oak at vine where a three- year-old was killed a week ago. more pedestrians have been killed this year in san jose than any of the 8 previous years. they are calling for more traffic enforcement and speed reduction devices in the city. new information on the new york computer train detrailers.

investigators determined the train was supposed to be going 30 miles per hour, instead it was going 80 meteor 80 -- miles per hour. 150 passengers were on the train, four were killed and 60 injured. the latest on the investigation, the victims and survivors who say they heard screeching metal. >> reporter: among the four fatalities donna smith. >> she was kind. neighborly. friendly. >> reporter: magnesium those killed 67 were in-- in addition to those killed 67 were injured. >> i realized this is happening. >> reporter: investigators and survivors have the same question, why? >> something went wrong. >> reporter: after 7:00 a.m.

in an hour the west contra costa county school board will hold a meeting to talk about bullying among other things. this is on the heels of a fight between students and a gender team. ktvu's noelle walker is live now at the school where the

to fill the seats here when the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. reporting live, noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. a woman who claims she was put on the no-fly list is getting her chance to fight back in court. today the trial involving a former student began in san francisco. in 2005 she was about to board a plane when she was arrested and told her name was on the no- fly list. she has been fighting to clear her name. the case is expected to give new insight into how the government chooses people for the no-fly list. the obama administration said they fixed the majority of problems trying to use healthcare.gov. the white house said technical fixes and upgrades have been

new at 5:00 p.m. a protest against a new planned parenthood clinic set to open tomorrow on the peninsula. it will be located in the community of north fair oaks. the protesters are circulating a petition and they say 1600 people have already signed it. >> we want them out. it is across the board.

pro life and pro choice. people have come together for the 12 year olds. you know, getting an abortion without parent's consent is horrific. >> demonstrators rallied today. many also held signs that expressed concern the clinic will lower their property values. today planned parenthood gave us a look inside and they say the majority of the community welcomes the clinic and they said there may be a misunderstanding about the services they will be providing. >> we are providing reproductive and primary care services. not providing abortions at this location. there is a lot of misunderstanding about what we do. >> planned parenthood says they hope to work with those who are against the clinic. the new clinic is set to open tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. officials say it will begin by operating 19 hour as week.

complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. a thanksgiving day outing turned into a search for a couple who disappeared on the peninsula. their boat found drifting. ktvu's ken pritchett is here now with the search effort and a family that is not giving up. ken? >> reporter: well, we just have a few minutes of day light left here in the delta but there is still a search boat on the water right now with a dog looking for the couple. this couple was missing when their boat was found adrift -- found adrift and on the boat was life jackets. >> boat launch on hog's back

island where an empty boat trailer sat for days. a maze of water ways that make up the delta where this fishing boat was found thanksgiving day, slowly circling with its motor on. they were out for a day of fishing and then they were gone. >> at this point we still don't know what happened to my parents. >> reporter: he says his father took out his boat every week. his father was an excellent swimmer. his mother was not. >> they could be drowned or got kidnapped. >> reporter: they have not given up hope and today the search effort continued with volunteers and cadaver dogs on boat. the sheriff's department conducting a recovery effort. >> water temperature is 54 degrees. difficult to survive in a water temperature that cold.

>> reporter: investigators say they have no reason to suspect foul play and say inside the boat were freshly caught fish and enough life jackets. >> there is a campaign for children wearing life jackets but the adults are the victims of drowning. >> reporter: if as feared the sheriff's department said it could be weeks before bodies would surface because of the cold nature of the water. in the mean time they plan to continue the search. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. michael stinger is the man shot and killed yesterday in oakland. it happened before 10:00 p.m. last night. police say he was walking to a family member's home when a green car pulled up and someone shot him in the head. a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading

to an arrest. she the 85 -- he is the 84th homicide of the year in oakland. warning to bank customers after thieves are stealing money from atm users. there has been similar crimes recently. ktvu's alex savage tells us the mistake victims are making. >> reporter: targeting inattentive atm users. looking for people who forget to end their transaction before walking away. that leaves an opening for thieves who sneak in and steal cash. >> they push the buttons so fast and they are in a rush and leave. you got to be aware. >> reporter: yesterday afternoon a woman was robbed at this bank of america. police say she didn't close out her transaction and then noticed a man walk up to the atm she was using. when the victim tried to stop

bomb scare in san francisco today prompted evacuations and shut down a street in the mission district. a bomb squad was called to a hotel. investigators say a front desk worker discovered a suspicious device. police shut down a block of 16 16th street. the bomb squad domed it was not -- determined it wasn't not hazardous. a man was shot and injured after an argument. the man crawled along market

street before he collapsed in front of the building that houses the san francisco aids foundation. police say the shooting took place outside the check cashing store and that the injured man was hit 3, 4 times. he was taken to san francisco general hospital. police are investigating a fire that killed a person inside of a mobile home. fire crews found the mobile home engulfed in flames about 12:30 a.m. this morning. firefighters kept the fire from spreading and they found the body of an adult. no word the person's identity. the show will go on after the death of paul walker. the hollywood reporter says the production of fast and furious 7 will go ahead as planned. paul walker died on saturday when the car he was in with a friend crashed near los
